Pallbearers for the funeral
Bearers for the day of the funeral: they carry the coffin and help at the farewell and at the cemetery.
What the bearers do
- Carry the coffin out and along the route of the procession
- Accompany the procession from the farewell to the cemetery
- Lower the coffin into the grave and stay until it is filled in
- Help family and guests with practical matters
- Carry the wreaths in the procession, one bearer per wreath
- Work in formal uniform, discreetly and as one team
How it works

The team
The family decides how many: usually four or six, sometimes ten. If five wreaths are carried, for example, each has its own bearer.

The bearers carry the coffin out and walk with the procession.

They lower the coffin and stay until the grave has been filled in.
Funeral bearers
Carrying the coffin out, bearing it along the route of the procession and lowering it into the grave all take strength and coordination that should not be expected of the family on such a difficult day. Our bearers take on this work: trained people in formal uniform who work together smoothly and discreetly.
